What happens when you register with us?

Once you register with us, our Placement Officer, Riona, will be in touch to chat with you and to help you to narrow down your volunteer choices. We would ask you to have a look at the current vacancies on our website through the "Volunteer Vacancies" tab.

Riona is available for appointments with volunteers on:

Monday 2pm-4pm

Tuesday 11.30am-1.30pm

Finding a Placement

Riona will support any potential volunteers to decide what opportunites they want to pursue. We will then tell you more about them refer you to the organisation. Many organisations require some form of vetting - that may be informal interviews, Garda Vetting, references etc. Sligo Volunteer Centre will not be involved in this. This will be carried out by the organisation where you hope to volunteer. 

The decision for a volunteer to become involved with an organisation remains entirely with the volunteer.

Our role is solely to match the placement and give whatever assistance is necessary facilitate the placement and introduction to the organisation.

What happens next?

Once we give you the details of the organisation, you can contact them directly and arrange to meet them.

We will follow up with you in a number of weeks to see how you are getting along and if you need more support from us.

We would appreciate if you could let us know when you start a placement or indeed if you have any difficulty in getting in otuch with organisations. We can offer support then as necessary.
