Sligo Volunteer Centre is a member of the growing national network of centres supported by Volunteer Centres Ireland. The Sligo Volunteer Centre is registered as a company limited by guarantee and is managed by a voluntary Board of Directors made up from representatives from:

Sligo County Council, The Health Service Executive North West Region, County Sligo LEADER Partnership Company  Ltd., Sligo Social services, St. Michaels Family Life Centre, Sligo Community Forum and The Voluntary Youth Council, The Samaritans.

The Centre is staffed full time by Leah McNulty, the Co-Ordinator. There are two part time staff - Paula Naughton, Outreach & Development Officer & Alison Gately, Placement Officer. 

Where is the Centre?

Sligo Volunteer Centre have moved location. Our new address is

1 Gaol Road

Abbeyville Terrace

Sligo.

This is located near Dunnes Stores Cranmore and the main County Council Offices at Riverside. We are the first building after the Old Jail (currently housing the firestation).

Whether you are an organisation or an individual, do not hesitate to contact either Leah or Paula who can arrange to meet with you to discuss your volunteer needs.

The service is open Mon-Fri. We meet people by appoinment only, so please call ahead if you intend to call to us.

Who funds the Centre?

The initial funding for the Development phase of the programme has come from the Peace 11 Task Force. The core funding of the Volunteer Centre is from the Department of Community, Rural & Gaeltacht Affairs with support from Sligo County Council. Support has been received in .the past from County Sligo LEADER Partnership Ltd, the Community Foundation of Ireland and the Receptin & Integration Agency.

Part of the role of the Board of Management is to secure funding on an annual basis.
